I can see this using the radeon driver, but both with focus-follows-
mouse enabled and disabled. Moreover, one of my cores goes to 100%,
while the cursor flickers like crazy. This is a big problem, afaik.

I can understand that. However, on Karmic the nouveau drivers were
installable and working; I used them in place of the -nv ones for months
and they did not crash. Moreover, I noticed a net improvement of the
quality of the on-screen 2D rendering or, alas, gradients for example
did not have that ug

of people owning Intel cards, I think it'll be nice a backport of the
kernel patches needed to fix this bug. Playing a video in Totem with a
resolution above 640x480 hogs my CPU at 100% and makes anything larger
unwatchable. (
Seems solved for me on Karmic 9.10 on my iMac G5 (PPC w/ 64-bit kernel).

Something happened with the updates I did today (it was a couple of days I
didn't update, say from Friday).
Now I supposedly have xvideo support (see attached output of xvinfo, until
yesterday it gave me "No adapters present"), however things got worse!
The whole system is mostly unusable: using
I can't play any video without many frames skipping. This makes Ubuntu
unusable to watch any video with e.g. Totem or Mplayer. Thus, nominating
for fixing it before Karmic final.

that option is checked.
However, I must admit that that behaviour baffled me too, when I first

I can confirm this not being due to a time drift. My timezone and time
are set correctly, and even after ntpdate did correct my settings (of
0,004s), apport shows the crash dialog every time I start the applet
(which of course never connects).

Here's what ubuntu-bug collects when I start up 2.6.30-10-generic in
single-boot mode (without starting GDM).

@Noel: you can disable tracker for new accounts deleting the corresponding
files in /etc/xdg/autostart.
