I've tried removing the splash and quiet from the Live CD boot options
and I see some activity in the terminal which doesn't appear to indicate
any problems. It generates locales and loads various services without
obvious errors. I think it gets as far as trying to load the graphical

It's not possible for us to diagnose this bug without concrete examples.
Please could you provide links to additional strings in the translation
files which are not present in the relevant distribution.
