@auspex the bug is almost one month old and still "unassigned", a
workaround as suggested by @avishay is more than welcome to make my
laptop usable instead of relying on my phone hotspot. Otherwise I would

Having the same issue on Kubuntu 16.04 while connecting to a regular PEAP,
MSCHAPv2 wifi network.
Changing settings in the network manager doesn't seems to work, everything gets
reverted back when closing the window.
