The same driver bites my ass on both 14.04 and 14.10 actually. I am
forced to install Windows on my machine (and lose bcache) on a machine
of mine after this driver made the entire system too unstable.

Can someone fwd this bug to clang team and LLVMLinux team too (I don't
know how to do that and who to fwd to) as this is a blocking issue
preventing clang from building a useable Linux kernel.

I have set to use clang as cc (so that the system environment matches OS
X better). Try force make use gcc so that such a cc=clang situation will
be better handled.
