I am experiencing a similar enough issue to consider the same bug.
SOMETIMES on logout, the monitor goes blank. The computer is still
active as I can type a username and password, and log in just fine.
Also, if I simply turn the monitor off and on, the picture comes back.

Eh, I think the fullscreen controls thing is another symptom of the same
bug, being that it is fixed by the patch in the PPA listed above.

I am having a similar problem. I have an Epson Stylus CX6600 shared by
a windows XP machine. I can print once, but then after that I need to
restart CUPS so that I don't get the "Too many failed attempts" message.
