I have tried both of these work-arounds and they do not fix this issue.
I cannot get so far as to even boot into the 10.04 LiveCD desktop
(unless it plans to time out after 20-30 minutes--haven't tried).

My system is a Mac Mini (mid 2010) with a Corsair F120 SSD, and I can
provide more information if it would be helpful. However, it is
identical to most of the information posted here, except that the work-
arounds do not help. I also have tried the "Mac Mini Spin":
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Macmini4-1/Lucid), which works with
the regular hard drive, not the SSD I'd like to use.
