for me, the following combination worked:
- Kernel 2.6.39-0
- ncpfs 2.2.6-4
- Filemanager PCman instead of Nautilus

now that I got a little bit deeper into the whole kernel-thing, I got
your question: After the repair packages I used the 2.6.39-0-generic
~$ uname -r
2.6.39-0-generic
But it still does not work.

I will try the 2.6.39 with the nvidia-driver running. Might nvidia be a
problem, too? I will use the nv driver and try it once again.
