It seems that reverting x11-common to version 7.4+3ubuntu7 by "sudo apt-

Do you have im-switch installed? Try to remove im-switch by executing

I don't see the point of using scim instead of skim in a KDE
environment, at least not for Chinese (for Korean, it is a different
story, since skim has no configuration module). Skim is working fine for
me when typing Chinese.

As far as I know, you have to add the following lines to ~/.scim/global
to activate skim:
/DefaultConfigModule = kconfig
/DefaultPanelProgram = /usr/bin/scim-panel-kde

Did you invoke kate by the menu or by opening a file from Dolphin? I had
the same problem, but when I started kate from the menu and enabled the
plugin, it was saved; just not, when I opened kate from Dolphin.

In my opinion, the reason for this behaviour is a wrong file
association. If you open System Settings and choose "File Associations"
from the Advanced tab and look at the entry for text/plain for example
(select "Kate" and click on "Edit..."), you will see that the command to
open Kate is "/usr/lib

bug. The patch just disables the cache in
$HOME/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/cache/Moodin/ .

Yes, it is definitely a KDE application. You can start it by running
"system-config-printer-kde" if you have the package with the same name
installed. And it has no menu at all...

Chinese font support in QT is again completely broken in Hardy
(libqt3-mt version is 3:3.3.8-b-0ubuntu1). I have removed all Japanese
fonts but installed the Chinese "WenQuanYi Zen Hei" fonts. However, all
QT applications just display boxes instead of Chinese characters (see
the attached screenshot
