libjbig (source package: jbig-kit) has been uploaded to Debian. Please
do feel free to import it - I should be able to fix any packaging issues
fairly quickly.

JBIG-KIT ought to be built as a separate package(s), since libtiff &
hylafax also usefully depend on it.
I have a PPA (ppa:mvanderkolff/libjbig) with potential packaging for
libjbig - I'm not entirely sure how to submit a potential package, but I
figure this is best. In any
Make adds further output when called from another instance of make (through
the MAKELEVEL environment variable ). This patch takes away that extra
output ).

Is there something wrong with the patch I posted? Please let me know if
there's something I can do to make it more palatable...

Basic issue is that GNU make 'helpfully' adds printouts from directories
when it is called. This is probably in a form that can be used

It seems there's a bug in their configure, but it isn't a bashism
(forced it to use /bin/bash, and still no dice)... it's not an autoconf
one, and definitely hand-baked, down to the strange messages emitted
when detecting type of system being built for. One fix might be to use
autoconf, though the

Is it suitable for inclusion in Natty?

There's a slight problem, Eirik: The options are being sent out via
DHCP. None of this would be a problem if we could configure the tap{x}
interface exactly as we could an ethernet interface. I'm thinking that
a way of demonstrating this would be to build a GRE nm plugin, and go
from there... Not
Now that I think of it, one way of showing this is to cover the simple
case - how do we set up a new GRE tunnel that passes ethernet frames,
and build from there...

That's far from a perfect solution, but it's a good start. I'll try it
next time... What would be the best solution is for a tap-based openvpn
interface to show up as an ethernet interface with all the configuration
buttons that we have for them right now, including DHCP. In particular,

Is network-manager-openvpn actually maintained? It seems strange that
the general brokenness of the tap configuration would go unfixed for
this long - or is it a case of "patches please!"?
