Experiencing the same on my desktop of xubuntu 16.04, where I have core
4.4.0-21. Fixed by rebooting into older available core (in my case
'4.2.0-30').

sorry, can't test it anymore. My system was upgraded from 14.04 to 15.04
and graphic card Nvidia GTX 260 died, now I have Radeon X1950 PRO.
I don't have any problems after upgrade to 15.04 and with new graphic
card.

I'm trying to reproduce crash while running it in GDB but I can't get
it. When I run it from GDB it won't crash. Usually it crashes 3-times
per day, now it is running in GDB for 3 days. This is my GDB output so

After upgrade from XUbuntu 12.04 to 14.04.1 I started to get frequent
xfdesktop crashes.
