I have a Thinkpad T470p laptop and I had the same problem since
upgrading from 4.13.0-21 to 4.13.0-25 in xenial. Resume after hibrnate
doesn't work. I updated to bionic (devel) with 4.15.0-13-generic kernel
but hibrnate still doesn't work. It will not freeze, but a fresh new
session will be resumed
I had the same problem with VLC on ubuntu 12.10. Changing the output
module (Tools -> Preferences -> Audio -> Output module) from "Default"
to "ALSA audio output" fixed the noise problem for me. The bug could be
reproduced by choosing "Default" or "Pulseaudio audio output" output
module in VLC.

Yes! Thank you. I can confirm the new proposed nautilus package fixes this
problem, too.
I had to test it before reporting this bug. This bug was really annoying.

Generally, in nautilus, you could select a file by typing its name. If
you made a mistake typing, you could backspace in the search box and
correct it. This works even if the filename contains the space
character.

This bug is definitely not related to indicator-mulitload. Any
indicator that change its icon or text regularly could increase compiz
process memory usage. My simple script (Post #6) could verify this fact.
