I came up with a convenient solution. I added the following to my
crontab:
* * * * * rm -rf /home/amichaux/snap
Works like a charm.

Just fyi to the snap developers.
I delete the $HOME/snap directory every time I see it. I agree 100% with
#2 that it's arrogant to create this directory. If I'm forced to use a
snap app, like skype, I just delete the directory immediately
