There seems no interruption/corruption/error during the installation.
The kernel updated from 1052 to 1056, and then went into kernel panic

What worked for me on 14.04.3 was the grub change above. Removed the
"quiet splash". That alone seemed to work.
Had tried many other things including all the lightdm restarts, etc. -
none of those worked.
Also went into the Displays setting and noticed it had an "internal"

My setting is correct yet I spent 10 minutes waiting for that to quit
spinning in my task bar this AM. Could this have anything to do with
delaying D-Bus starting?

Did we ever find a solution to this? Running 10.04.2 LTS. Would greatly
appreciate a patch.
In the mean time, could anyone provide a script that watches the logs
for faxgetty to crash and restarts hylafax or faxgetty when this
happens? I am not much of a wizard.

still got a seg fault until I removed rhythmbox-plugins. Now it runs.
FYI - the errors I was getting before I removed above:

I checked the duplicate bug threads. I tried the irqbalance fixes that
were suggested (changing the .conf file and finally purging irqbalance)
and they did not work. I am still getting freezes.

I, too, am having this problem. I can use the computer for hours and
then it will lock up and I have to hard reboot. It seems to lockup
consistently when I am on the internet. I don't remember any crashes
Chris I do not have answers, but I sure need to know how to fix this
I am not real computer savvy!! Thanks
