LTS (today Ubuntu 14.04.5 and LibreOffice 4.2.8.2). The only way to edit
documents and have usable menus is to disconnect all SSHFS mount

I've open a 54MiB .sql file with gedit 2.30.4 (Ubuntu 11.04) and no
