I downloaded the released 20.04 Desktop image. I get the same behaviour.
With no additional cards plugged in I do not get a network.
When I attach a WiFi USB - I get a wifi network
It says the wired card has no cable.
On main system boot
Once I plug in a USB WiFI card - the wired network and w
only person with this
issue the intel 1000m card is quite popular - the system is a Dell t1600 xeon

My Computer powered off during the screenlet installation but when I restarted
my computer and tried to install it again, it returned me that error.

Pidgin exits on close and not minimized to the system tray when logging
in and the system tray is not yet initialized, I tried the same thing
with Gyachi which is a Yahoo Messenger client, but that didn't crashed
so thought it might be a bug.

Albech's workaround fixed the problem for me. I just customized my
theme (which is set to human by default) and set the window border to
glossy. Thanks Albech.

I agree with era. Also, as a temporary fix, I changed the last few
lines of .bashrc to:
if [ -f /etc/bash_completion -a ! "$BASH_COMPLETION_HAS_RAN" ]; then
