Yes - the system refused to do anything - only a full reinstall helped -
but that old installation I left on a partition is totally useless.

report. Everything is already removed, and not replaced. No console
available (neither terminal, nor ctrl alt F1-6, so no way to read
/var/log/dist-upgrade
