This bug does seem to have been made redundant by the improved tango
icons that were included I think in the gutsy release. While rhythmbox
IMHO still needs a bit of work these icons won't do much to address
that. I would be happy for this to be closed or deleted.

rhythmbox is ugly; fix
I agree, this is ridiculous. This is the sort of thing that doesn't affect
functionality but is profoundly upsetting for people.
It's been over a year now and this is quite an indictment of Ubuntu's
bug-squashing abilities...

[Ubuntu] [hardy] font hinting does not work with libfreetype6 v.
I have an ipod video 60gb with the same problem. Artwork in the folder
titled cover.png. Rhythmbox loads it fine when playing the track but
doesn't transfer the art to the ipod unless I'm actually playing the
song in rhythmbox as I transfer; and even then it only transfers art for
that song on the
I did originally do one in Ubuntu orange but I didn't think it turned
out very well so I used the windec palette. Here is one using the same
palette as the arrow buttons; I did one using the widget colours but
this one turned out better.

I've attached a screenshot of the new icons, there is also a new tray icon
which is slightly better looking musical note; but isn't in the screenshot.
The source files are in the thread or I can post them here as well if you want.
Not sure what's happening with rhythmbox, the new version
Here are the files themselves, I should stress these mostly come from
Lauri Tamila and his guide (http://www.taimila.com/orange-look.php) with
the radio icon coming from a thread mentioned above.

here is the icon, to use it in Ubuntu just move it to
sudo mv system-upgrade.png /usr/share/icons/Human/24x24/apps/
and update the icon cache...looks great!

Use human-like system-upgrade
Its an easy improvement and should definitely be committed IMHO; it
would take about 30 seconds to do it too.
The fourth post in the link below describes how to do it and has the
icon attached. Plain sailing!

Use human-like system-upgrade icon
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: human-icon-theme
Rhythmbox is an app a lot of people spend a lot of time looking at, but
is really unattractive because of some very old icon sets.
Laura Taimila wrote an excellent guide on making it look a bit more
Human. I've added a radio icon from
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: human-icon-theme
Network-manager looks out of place with the rest of the human/default
theme. I edited the iconset to make the wifi-bars a nice brown colour.
Not perfect, but I believe an improvement. Screenshots, details and
files are included as the
The default icons are terrible, and I think account for a portion of the
criticism of gtkpod.
I made an updated iconset using other Human icons and posted it in the
following thread; definitely not perfect, but (I think) a big
improvement on the look before.
