Errrm sorry, guys. After i tried everything, I went to the shop and the
guy told me, the dvd drive was broken. when i came back home, i tried it
one last time and . . . it works fine now. I didn't add anything, i
didn't download anything i did nothing - but it works now. CRAZY.

Today i had to find out that after updating Karmic three days ago, my
dvd device of my laptop doesn't work anymore (HP Compaq 6715b). I never
had problems before. I am using Karmic since its release (never had
problems back til hardy).

well, it saves some of the settings. afaic:
complete first chart: is saved
second chart: the volume is saved, but automatically my micros get blocked

sorry, same for 8.04 on this pc. i did update and upgrade. same as
above, although it is also a different (elder) version of f-spot (the
other f-spot version i use with 8.10 is 0.5.0.3, btw). but, same as
above, I sent you the txt-file, so you can see if you find something
useful.

i got update and upgrade installed today on 8.10 can't reproduce the
error anymore, sorry. works fine now, besides the fact that my printer
tells me that it is not the right paper, although i proofed everything
:-( - whatever, preview works nicely and printer starts now.

okidoki - tried now to print via my notebook ubuntu 8.10. doesn't work
either. I get an error in printer sign that tells me that the printer is
prolly not connected. But it is. I checked detection in printer menu, is
detected. I print testside - works fine. I print from OOo - works fine.

i use ubuntu 8.04 and f.spot o.4.3.1
i mark a picture, go to "print", set up my settings. when i hit
"Preview" f-spot closes immediately without warning, no error. Same
thing happens when i try to "Print" without Preview. It once worked very
well.

I am really a noob, but my webcam wouldn't work under ubuntu 8.10 as
well. Until i tried:
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype
whatever application u need it to run - delete skype and set name there. worked
for me. good luck.
oh, and btw: don't close the terminal, because the allpicati
ouch. should have read carefully the warning when i installed nvidia
(headbang).
