I see that as well, but not directly after a gnome restart. Seems to be
related to memory pressure (i.e. happens when I have lots of processes
using most of my memory).

Double-clicking highlights the selected text, but does not set the X
selection to it. That only affects gnome-terminal (e.g. gedit and xterm
continue to work as expected). ctrl-shift-c still sets the X selection
in gnome-terminal.

Ok, I figured it out what was wrong and it has nothing to do with the
kernel...
The problem was that for some reason, the device that is controlled via
the keyboard was configured to be the Internal Mic. I opened the
"System->Preferences->Sound" and changed it to "Master" and everything
is workin

the internal microphone instead of the master output level. I see the
OSD (new in gutsy), but the playback volume does not change and when I
open the volume control from the volume applet (using "Open Volume

Ok, I just upgraded to ia32-libs-gtk version 16.2 and undid my hack.
However, the problem is _not_ solved: I still get the same errors on
startup and the fonts in the Open dialog are still mangled. Error
messages also shows it's still trying to load modules from
/usr/lib/pango instead of /usr/lib3
Sorry for all the typos. Only excuse I have is that it's 4:45am for me
right now...

hmm, I just ran "aptitude update; aptitude upgrade" and di not get a new
version of ia32-libs-gtk. My version is 16.1.Do I just have to wait
until the "current ia32-libs-gtk package" hist the servers or am I
misinterpreting the comment?

I get lots of pango warnings when running OO in Ubuntu 6.06 on a AMD64
laptop. Visible outcome is that all dialog fonts (e.g. for "Open") are
unreadable (rectangles instead of chars).

problem seems to be that OO tries to use the 64 bit version of pango, but is a
32bit program. I solved that by
1) create /etc/pango32/pangorc containing
[Pango]
ModuleFiles = /etc/pango32/pango.modules
2) put the following line on ooo-wrapper just before the "exec":
$ENV{PANGO_RC_FILE} = '/etc/pa
Using another firmware and the current kernel, the wireless connection
works now.
