Have been informed this is probably a problem with the Ubuntu hardware detection (Knoppix works fine), but it was expected to be fixed in Fiesty... Also, both installer discs pass the disc check - My current ubuntu install came from the 6.10 disc and is just fine once I'd got the drivers changed.
