The best thing to do in my opinion is to file an issue upstream(GNOME's
Bugzilla) and work closely with the current upstream translator to get
this properly fixed. You could keep this issue open for cross-
referencing purposes, but in my opinion, this is an upstream issue and
it is not related to U

Thank you Susana and Laudeci for looking into this. I have filed a new

Public bug reported:
There have been several reports of Brazilian Portuguese translations
being replaced by European Portuguese (and vice versa) in some
applications, such as GNOME Terminal and Network Manager. Please see:

The problem here is a bit more deep than it appears. The translation for
this "bug" is actually correct both in Rosetta as well as upstream
GNOME. The problem is that somehow, the translation for gnome-terminal
is "falling back" to the Portuguese (pt) translation.
Cheers,

Sebastian,
One more time to see if it sinks in: The Brazilian Portuguese
translation for the gnome-desktop package IS correct. The following
links will take you directly to the messages associated with this bug.
Furthermore, the bug was filed against the Portuguese translation and
not Brazilian.
Hey Jonh,
You see, this has been already handled from the translation team point
of view. It is necessary to now test it with the newer translation. :)
In other words, someone needs to either download the .po file from
Rosetta, compile it into a .mo and replace the existing one in their

I have just confirmed that the Brazilian Portuguese translation is
correct, and the next version of Ubuntu (whether that is a beta or the
final release) will have it.

I manually updated the translation for gnome-control-center (where the

Are you sure this is a gEdit issue?
