i experienced similar symptoms.
it finally turns out that the problem was the permissions of
/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages (and it's subfolders)
I'm still trying to figure out what it was that touched the permissions (or why
it has that permission from the begining), but running 'chmod
just got a new asus d550c, and experience this bug.
thanks for the WA.

Public bug reported:
i don't know if it is a bug or the OS should behave like that, but i would
prefer it other way.
when i run a command as sudo and pipe it to another command or to a file, the
command piped as normal user, when i typed
ohad@comp1:~$ sudo echo 10 /proc/sys/vm/swappiness
just compare the two screenshots, i read the remarks in the file, but as
i tested it on my machine - the process_labels function makes rtl
languages to be shown partly under the languages list .
** Attachment added: without process_labels

Title:
greeter screen on rtl
I found a solution, in file /ubiquity/frontend/gtk_ui.py I commented lines
310-311,
for w in mod.all_widgets:
process_labels(w)
in method Wizard. __init__
probably it was a problem in older versions of some libraries and the solution
for them is now obsolete.
attached patch.
