I have now fixed the problem. I first tried renaming my .openoffice2 directory in case there was a problem with the settings. OO.org still crashed when using the Mail Merge Wizard. I then tried purging openoffice.org-writer in Adept, deleting the ,openoffice2 directory, then reinstalling

Thanks Gary - that's working for me. I got the 2.5.0.0 source from Azureus CVS, made the change to Initializer.java and built with Ant. Then copied Azureus2.jar to /usr/share/java/ (where the apt installed one lives). Made the changes you suggested to /usr/bin/azureus, ran it and it works. --
