I've installed Ubuntu 22.04 for real and using the proprietary driver in
fact solves the screen issue.
However, in my opinion, someone who wants to try Ubuntu from a live
stick should not need to worry about such things (e. g. also try using
safe graphics mode). That person is likely to

I'll gladly do that, but I won't get my hands on that computer before
Thursday and I'd need to either figure out how to create a persistent
live stick or to install 22.04 on a separate partition or drive.

@Damon Does not sound like a pleasant experience.
The issue is probably related to Wayland and Nvidia drivers then.
Doesn't look to good for Ubuntu if prospect users try the live system
and one of the first experiences that they make is a corrupted screen.

usual screen with the options to "Try Ubuntu" or "Install" Ubuntu
appears. When hitting "Try Ubuntu", the screen turns black for a couple

@cijay Amendmend, since you're mentioning your computer's CPUs - that's
not what I was referring to when I mentioned an AMD chipset, but the USB
controller chipset that's also made by AMD.

@cijay The AMD chipset as the culprit is the best hypothesis so far. I
have not checked for differences in the configuration, but only been
enjoying the Rødecaster on a non-AMD chipset port.

I have now built in a separate PCIe board with USB ports that do not
rely on AMD chipsets. The RODECaster Pro now works perfectly. So this
seems to be in fact something out of the audio driver's responsibility
(?) and needs to be fixed somewhere else?
It' sad that I lost one port, but at least

Rumor has it that the my USB ports powered by an AMD chipset might be
the culprit. I have no clue whatsoever how this could be fixed in
software, but I am now waiting for a PCIe USB card with a different
chipset to check if there's a (preliminary) fix in hardware at least.

It seems this has been addressed and fixed in kernel 5.8 by adding quirk
handling to report a fixed sample rate of 48 kHz, please cmp.

The Rodecaster is running
I can confirm the bug using Ubuntu 12.04 (64bit) Precise Pangolin and
davfs2_1.4.6-1ubuntu3_amd64.
Mounting a WebDAV environment works fine. After setting use_locks 0
and if_match_bug 1 copying large files, interestingly, seems to be
possible via nautilus, but not via cp. With cp, the file shows
19 matches
