A small update on this issue.
I also see the error about missing hyphenation pattern but fop doesn't crash in
my case. And there is a PDF generated.

I understood you correct before. I tried building lucene2 yesterday on
my pc (i386) and it failed there too. But it is worth mentioning that
the build failure is due to failed unit test. It is possible that
something in JRE has changed in recent version due to which this unit
test failed.

Do you have any powerpc machine around where you can check if the
problem is present on 2.5.25 or greater kernel versions. It is possible
that it is fixed for 386 but not for powerpc.

I can confirm the bug. It is caused by some combination of modules b43,
rfkill, rfkill_input. I have observed the problem in 2.6.25 kernel image
available in repositories as well as unofficial 2.6.27 kernel image
created by Michael Casadevall (NCommander/sonicmctails). I remember
seeing this proble

Considering that how slow packages are moving these days in Debian
because of lenny freeze I didn't bother to report. But now that you
mention it I will report it and see if I get any reply within this week,
so that we can do a sync later. Of course I will have to first verify
that package

Is this problem specific to amd64? I can compile and run the program
just fine on my machine with openjdk-6-jre version 6b11-2ubuntu2 (from
hardy-updates).
Or is the case of compiling program with Sun JDK and trying to run with
OpenJDK JRE? I should note that even that works fine on my machine.
