I had a problem getting sound working using Ubuntu (no KDE installed)
and the following two actions fixed it.
1. installed phonon-backend-xine
2. removed phonondevicesrc from ~/.kde/share/config

I first experienced the problem with Ubuntu 8.10. I'm not sure when I
last did a fresh install, over a year at least. I don't know how to
reproduce the bug except for the way mentioned in my first post.

Hi. Sorry about taking so long to reply. I had to get a hold of a DVD
drive that would allow me to boot a LiveCD (DVD? :-P ).
I am unable to reproduce the problem using a Ubuntu 8.10 LiveCD as I am
unable to change compiz settings when I do boot into a LiveCD
environment.

This bug is for the workspace switcher that is installed by default and
sits in the lower right of the screen. When I go to "About" it tells me
it is called "Workspace Switcher 2.24.1".
Trigger: Clicking on a workspace in the switcher.
