I've compiled and installed Pidgin from source (checked out from their
monotone repository), and it's rock solid since.
There's a very handy guide on ubuntuforums, if needed.
I suspect this to be a bug arising from slightly incompatible shared
libraries and/or pidgin components.

I've compiled and installed Pidgin from source (checked out from their
monotone repository), and it's rock solid since.
There's a very handy guide on ubuntuforums, if needed.
I suspect this to be a bug arising from slightly incompatible shared
libraries and/or pidgin components.

Same problem here.
I've installed a 7.10 Ubuntu, then KDE and KDE4. They got along rather
nice. I'm also using the nvidia GLX driver.

Regarding the nvidia-glx. I was using it, I'm sure. I think I enabled it
via the "restricted drivers manager", and it upgraded itself via
adept/synaptic at times (I suppose).

I had to switch to gnome, KDE always freezed, even with a brand new
"user profile". I don't know if it was ksmserver or plasma. After I've
restarted my box I'll report back. I hope today's updates helped.

Looks like something is seriously messed up with my install.
After I log in into KDE and open the K menu once and click anywhere else
(so it closes), plasma freezes completely for me.
