I have the problem as well on my netbook (Asus eeePC 1000H) running
Ubuntu 10.10.
My wireless card reports negative values for the signal level for "bad"
APs and positiv values for the good AP. As the noise value is not
reported (noise == 0) the quality of all signals is considered as
maximal.

I can confirm that too. As said before its a new bug in 8.10 because it worked
fine before the upgrade.
For me drag and drop works if I drag it to the body, also for doc, ods and so
on, so I guess it works for all file types, but I can't confirm that for sure.

I get following error, while trying to create any .7z archive. but it's
not a bug in the p7zip packet, because I can create working .7z archives
with the command line tools. So I think the file-roller uses the tools
somehow wrong, because of maybe api changes.

First you have to scan for the accesspoint with: "iwlist scan"

come somehow with the last few updates. I can connect to the Internet
over the console if I kill the NetworkManager, so I guess the error has

I'm sorry, that I forgot to answer, that I found the Problem. I did
compile and install a kernel by myself sometime ago and forgot about
that. So after there was a security update of the 6.2.22 Kernel my own
kernel came into the grub menu.list and therefore the whole boot process
was confused.
