[Bug 147623] Re: [amd64 + nvidia 8xxx] usplash shows nothing

2008-03-07 Thread Pat_Primate
I confirmed Roger's observation, this bug is still present in Hardy Alpha 5. With the number of 64bit nvidia 8xxx users out there we really should fix this before the full release of Hardy, because although there are workarounds many newbies won't be bothered to go to the time, trouble, and effort

[Bug 67237] Could not start ksmserver. Check your installation. in fresh Hardy alpha 4 install

I got this same problem in a fresh Hardy alpha 4 install. This problem persisted even when I reinstalled ksmserver. I have since installed kde4 and I log into that everytime with no problem, so this problem seems to only affect kde3 Pat -- KDE rarely starts up completely

I posted this in Bug # 147623 as well (as I'm not sure which one is the most appropriate) - but I just tried Kubuntu 64 Hardy Alpha 3 and got this bug again. Booting off of the live cd with any of the default boot options results in a black screen (with monitor entering sleep mode eventually) and

I just wanted to confirm that this bug still seems to apply to Hardy Alpha 1 - If we want Hardy to be a big success (particularly as a LTS) then we need bugs like this to be absent from Hardy. Pat -- Black screen, and bad usplash.conf https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150930 You received this bug

[Bug 32963] Re: Xv movies on 810/i945 gives horrible color, Gamma

2007-03-04 Thread Pat_Primate
This problem persists in Kubuntu Feisty Fawn Herd 5. Using the included xserver-xorg-video-i810 driver (version 1.7.4-1). Xine video driver auto/xv will play the washed out video (horrible color/Gamma) and I still have to manually change the video driver to Xshm to view video properly. Hopefully
