Confirmed. However, there is a workaround. GoogleTalk is Jabber
compliant. Enter your google email address in the Login ID field and
your password in the password field.
>From a usability standpoint, giving these separate choices would likely
make the transition from other clients easier.

Did experience on Intrepid->Jaunty Upgrade; however, I've done a clean
install of Jaunty—unrelated—and it still occasionally affects me.

Oh, and my situation was different, the brightness level was
consistently at a maximum, rather than 3/8 as I set in a configuration
file which unfortunately I edited and forgot about.

after the latest update of xserver-xorg-core package in gutsy, my
hibernate doesn't work at all. Though possibly not the cause, since I
hadn't hibernated in a while due to the above mentioned bug. Box is
Toshiba Tecra A9-S9013X (x only means it came with XP pro.)
