Jymbob, where did you get that latest version from github? Is it a deb
package or do we need to do something special to compile it?

I have been using davmail gateway and thunderbird in my Exchange 2007

few extra characters but it doesn't replace anything important, just
spaces. This seems to be related to the setup of the mail client on the

What I finally did to work around this (if I can remember correctly):
I completely deleted my primary domain user's folder that I was concerned with.

Some things I've tried, per various posts in the forums:
sudo chown UID#:GID# /home/likewise-open/MYDOMAIN/username/.ICEauthority

Someone on a forum suggested un-installing gdm from a terminal and then
reinstalling it. This seems rather drastic and likely to cause problems
with many dependencies.

What exactly would the host entry on the linux box look like. My /etc/hosts

I don't know anything about making my own ppa. Sounds like some reading I
could do this weekend. So, if I made my own ppa, copied the package from your

subscribe to my own or would I stay subscribed to both?
Thanks
I'm going to give davmail gateway and Thunderbird a try to see if it
will work with my OWA and won't have these bugs that Evolution will.
There aren't a lot of people doing this, so I'm not sure if it will
really work.

Character Encoding in Evolution Exchange MAPI
I am actually on an Acer Aspire One and had this problem (I think I was
back on Jaunty at the time). I got it fixed by upgrading to the newer
version of x.org, if I can recall. I haven't had any problems with
cheese since. I upgraded to Karmic just fine but I haven't moved up to
Lucid yet.
Thanks Jerry -
I'll follow that other discussion. It looks like the solutions there are way
over my head at this point. I'll hold out for an easier bug fix. Thanks for
your work on this. I love the concept of Likewise and it could be a powerful
tool to bring Linux into my Windows-only school
I am experiencing this same problem in 10.04. I made the mistake of
upgrading from 9.10 when I was still joined to the domain. I think this
messed a few things up. I then had to completely uninstall LWO from
synaptic. After reinstalling LWO 5.4 from synaptic and rejoining the
domain I can join
I figured out a way to work around my situation and it almost works now.
I did the following:
-While I was logged in as local admin on the machine and inside the domain, I
used synaptic to remove Winbind
-I rebooted
-Then I used synaptic to completely remove likewise open
-Rebooted the machine
As a follow-up to this, I brought the machine in to work this morning,
connected to wireless, on my local admin level account, opened the
likewise gui and tried to leave the domain. Attached is a screenshot
of the error I got. I was thinking that if I could leave then I could
re-join and
I got hung up when upgrading from 9.10 to 10.04. I was on my domain
username when upgrading. Upgrade completed with a couple likewise
errors. Now i can't authenticate with domain account (DOMAIN\username).
Suggestions?

Good deal. Hope it goes well and the bug doesn't crop up. It is such
an intermittent problem that I almost don't think it is there until I
prove it to myself. I probably won't upgrade to Karmic for a month or

Did the problem seem to go away with an upgrade? (Karmic? Another Linux

After rm -r for each of these files do I need to reset my exchange info
