Till, I tried applying the patch and making the debs. There were no
errot messages, so I installed the patched debs and rebooted. But I
don't see any improvement. It still eventually stops responding.

I have created a new dkms archive with this patch and am successfully
testing it on my lenovo s10-3t. If you wish to try it, you can
uninstall the existing dkms module and delete the archive:

bigbrovar, sounds like you failed to set the jumpy options in post #49.
Also, open a terminal and do "man synaptics" and "man synclient" and
learn how to adjust the time to simulate middle clicks to make it more
workable. It's trial and error, but eventually you can make it work.

It's possible to use dkms to build the psmouse module for the buttonless
synaptics touchpad on some newer netbooks.
First make sure dkms package is installed.
Next download this patched source archive for the psmouse module from

I tried running this on maverick, but:
1. linux-alsa-driver-modules-2.6.35-19-generic does not work with kernel
19-generic. The sound is not activated and the sound setting program shows no
hardware.
2. kernel 20-generic has no linux-alsa-driver-modules-2.6.35-20-generic so
could not be tested
Yes, I can confirm that the alsa driver fix works on lucid's
2.6.32-24-generic kernel. Now, internal mic and mic input both work and
internal speaker and audio out work normally. And, nothing needed in
modprobe.d. Great fix. Hope it gets backported to lucid for the long
termers.

It's still a problem on maverick alpha 3. In fact, not only are the
above problems occuring, but I also could not get aptitude install
to install from the cd. It kept complaining that it couldn't
find the files. I finally had to cp all the debs to
/var/cache/apt/archives and then aptitude would
weird, I tried to use apport-collect 228302 and it wouldn't let me add
to this bug. So, here's my situation.

Sorry, but it failed here the 1st time after rebooting. I had to re-
create the file, but only need one line with the word "Default" in it.
Now, I have rebooted several times and even suspend / resume and it
connects ok. adt41287, did you reboot since deleting that file?

OK, based on what you said, I have deleted /etc/Wireless directory.
It's working now without it, so I'll continue to test it without. Yes,
I do have a WPA2-PSK connection.

I had to create /etc/Wireless/RT2870STA/RT2870STA.dat file and edit it
to include password and all info to get wpa2-psk to connect. Did you
have to do this also?

As of lucid kernel 2.6.32-22-generic, this still will not connect to a
wpa2-psk network. I was able to build the source from ralink
successfully, and it connect fine. So, still no results on excrypted
networks.

The problem for me is I have no way of figuring this out myself. I'm
not a dev and don't know coding. All I did is stumble upon the fact
that brightness and actual_ brightness were different after boot and the
same after resuming and that setting them the same before suspending
eliminated this pr
Gabe, is it possible to find out the source code that sets the values
for brightness and actual_brightness and get them to agree after boot
up?
It certainly would be better to try to fix it at the upstream source.
My limited knowledge of /sys/ directory is that it's mostly created by
kernel drive

I notice the changelog shows some upstream changes in how the eject
action is executed. I suppose this is a regression due to that work.
Specifically, on 30 March 2010, this:

Still not working here. Now that I know it's gnome-settings-daemon, I
did aptitude reinstall gnome-settings-daemon and still no success.
I opened the menu > system > preferences > keyboard shortcuts and can
see the eject listed under the sound section. I tried disabling and re-
enabling it, but
