I still think that one should look at the blur code before blacklisting. Blur
should perform good on any GL 2.0+ hardware. And if it does not there must be a
bug in the blur code.
As I previously said - the blur plugin provided by compiz runs fine on the same
hardware where the Unity Blur fails.
this bug was worked around in nux for natty already. As far as I recall the
problem was that mesa or better the gallium drivers did not respect a glScissor
of 0x0px size(dont paint at all) so it was increased to 1x1px.
So basically it is fixed for unity, but I dont know wheter glScissor is fixed
kernel message was unrelated. Just checked with linux 3.1.0 from edgers
ppa and there is no kernel message, but compiz is still sluggish.

the bug affects mobility as well as desktop cards using the r300g glx driver.
(R300-R500)
The HD 4670 uses the r600g driver and does not exhibit the bug.
Both drivers use gallium, so the bug must be in the r300g driver code.

m_CompositionLayout->ProcessDraw (GfxContext, force_draw);
in nux::ScrollView::DrawContent, there are no corruptions of the places

I did not have empathy installed in lucid and when I installed it in
maverick, libdconf0 was not installed, as it is only a recommends and
the "recommends as depends" behaviour was reverted for maverick. I
suppose this is a cornercase, but is there a reason not to make

while in all gnome applications the scroll arrows are set out(right), in

as the arrows are hardly visible when deactivated, this makes it seem like you

updates make no difference. on my desktop PC the transition worked also
flawlessly and that should have the same level of updates. I guess there
is something funny going on with my laptop configuration...

the gdm theme did not change after the updates which were supposed to push the
lucid arwork. the background is still brown and the theme defaults to Raleigh
(as I removed Human I guess).

there are also more issues with the csd patch:
* it draws window decorations even for boderless windows, like at the gdm login
or the eclupse splash screen
* dragging a file in nautilus results in a grey box instead of the transparent
image of the file
