I updated my Ubuntu 8.10 today and Pidgin stopped working with MSN, works fine
with Jabber.
The message I get is Unable to retrieve MSN Address Book
I'm not sure that it stopped working exactly after the update.

I do not know if it is relevant but these are the packages installed during
todays update:
