For Xubuntu, there are two possibilities that I can think of.
First try the menu ApplicationsSettingsAutostarted Applications.
That might have the evince program, which you can remove.
You should also have the menu ApplicationsSettingsSessions and
StartupAdvanced (Tab).

Actually, he seems to be talking about .deb files. He wants something to
download and double click on. .deb files work like this by default with
gdebi in ubuntu. Really, all he wants is for developers to actually MAKE
the deb files and host them on their web pages.
