I solved the case by doing the following: 1. in /usr/lib/eclipse I changed the files owner group from root to users (sudo chown -R root:users *) 2. I added write permission to the group on all files (sudo chmod -R g+r *) The installation issue were solved with tha, I'm able to update plugins
