Switching to metacity before connecting the second monitor works for me.
Interestingly, I can enable compiz with the second monitor connected,
the output produced by it is as follows:
Checking for Xgl: not present.
xset q doesn't reveal the location of the log file. Using fallback
/var/log/Xorg.
I am affected by this bug, too, and it definitely needs to be fixed. I
can't believe that this bug got into the release, especially since it
was reported 6 weeks ago. If you need any more information or testers of
fixes, please tell me how I can help.

[i945gm] [karmic] X servers hangs when set
Well, I see and know nothing except the many udevd-work errors and the
sometimes (not frequently) delayed availability of the logical volumes.
But I'm willing to investigate further, and I already have a little bit
of experience in working (and debugging) of initial ramdisks. So if you
could tell m
I disabled NoScript, now I keep getting the authorization request
messages the other bugs talk about. Bindwood should work with NoScript
enabled, at least by adding something to the whitelist or asking for
permission (as NoScript sometimes on websites).

Hello,
I installed bindwood to share my firefox bookmarks. After restarting
firefox, I see bindwood in the addons list, but I cannot figure out how
to configure it so that it uploads my boomarks. I was not asked to allow

Here the "Legacy Fullscreen Support" setting returned to work in Karmic
for gqview fullscreen (see duplicate bug), perhaps this helps for wine,
too?

I second this, there definitely needs to be a way to configure
policykit-1 authorizations with a GUI. Better have a poor graphical tool
than none.

This bug affects me, too. I upgraded yesterday from Jaunty to Karmic
with the update-manager. Since then, a lot of these udev errors appear
while booting, but boot is successful. I'm using LVM for everything
except /boot, but without snapshots (but with mirrored LVs). If you need
more information,
Yes, sometimes it helps to close the fullscreen window and reopen it.
But this is not reliable, sometimes I needed do this 10 times or more to
have a real fullscreen without panels.

I can confirm that hibernation does not work with 1GB of RAM and the default
setting of /sys/power/image_size. Setting the latter to 0 helps. The kernel
documentation states that the kernel will then use the smallest possible value.
I see no negative effects in this.
As todays computer probably
s somehow. I can try another driver (turboprint) and
connection via USB, too, if you want.
