Why was this bug made invalid?
Can you discuss this with the upstream developer before marking invalid?
It's blocking quite a few applications from moving forward (on Ubuntu)
with this library (that is indeed being developed rapidly). The version
of Ubuntu is not even compatible with the rest of
Ah, ok. That makes sense

Public bug reported:
When I start my Sony VGN-N21E laptop, all sounds that gdb procudes
repeat in short intervals.
Once logged in to the desktop, pulseaudio nor eds make any sounds.
mplayer, however, does produce sound. If I quit mplayer at the right
time, mplayer also starts repeating the last
Sorry, with gdb I obviously meant gdm. Luckily doesn't gdb produce any
sounds ... that would make my working day insane

Although I do agree with your argument, I still believe it's important
to continue removing the need for console input (and eventually fully
replacing it, and disallowing writing to it by default or something).
The reason for that is that the Administrator would not expect that

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-driver-i810
With the i810 driver and only if you have a dual configuration, and when
the screensaver starts or the tool for setting the screensaver starts,
X11 crashes.

I'll attach the xorg.conf that I had been using for this.

X11 crashes with a dual-head configuration after lauching for example the
screensaver
This new xorg.conf does not crash. It's however not a bugfix but rather
a workaround (also, a standard Ubuntu will not install this xorg.conf
and it's hard to find or know how to get this working correctly).
** Attachment added: Dual mode for the i810 that does work
I'll attach a working clone setup too.

attachment seems to incorrectly tell the window manager about the size
of the second screen: you can't move windows (like an xterm) to the far
right of the second screen (somewhere in the middle, it stops your
moving). You can,
Just as that it's possible to run, as a user, an xterm and change to the
root user using, for example, su or sudo, it's still not needed to run
the entire thing as root. Even a very simple sudo-line or a +s binary
could solve this in a few minutes.
The problem is not only that you can inject
The right solution could be a library that implements asking
these questions, and dlopen()-ing an implementation for X11 or
one for the console. Depending on the situation. And then
simply reject packages that do broken things.
Note that the implementation should or could use an IPC to
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6.15-27-386-di
I own a Acer travelmate 8000. Using the latest kernel, I sometimes
experience that keys (on my keyboard) don't always work. Each time it
happens, a kernel error appears in the dmesg log.
Reverting to 2.6.15-26 seems to fix
Public bug reported:
My screen resolution is very low when I boot my computer with the screen
off.
I also can't change it using the Screen resolution tool which can be
found in the System-Preferences menu.
Another resolution issue is that if I selected a low resolution during

It's a normal desktop with an Iyama screen. The vga device is an NVidia.
Sorry I don't have more details for now, this happened on my girlfriends
computer and I'm not at her place.
