After the laptop started from standby, the mousepad doesn't work properly.
When I swipe, it selects the text under the cursor instead of moving it.
Clicking seems to work fine.

No, it's not a problem for me.
I install Ubuntu 8.04 - Hardy Heron on 2 PC. But i use ubuntu on only one PC.
The other with the upgrade from 7.1 to 8.04 has both/ubuntu /XP. I dont
use it often with ubuntu because screen resolution is larger than
1024*728 for a 15". And i have always some problem

the command "sudo apt-get install ibritish language-support-writing-en " seams
work. But the install seams have already be done.. see file attachement.
after that, i use the command " apt-get autoremove" as written in this file.
and it's ok .
What method did I use to upgrade : from the task bar,
