I tried to install Ubuntu 14.10 but also Zorin with the same Ubuntu
version and that halfway coying the files from usb it stops with the
words that there is a mistake found on the disk which has probably to do
with the cd player or tmep. of the harddisk.

Dear Bryan,
Meanwhile I upgraded in Ubuntu to OO 3.2 and the same problem.
When I open de document with AbiWord than no problem. Then I save as
.doc file and than it opens in OO.
So via another way I can read and change the file.
This for your info.

Open Office crashes when I try to open .doc file. It says that the file
will be recovered next time after starting the programm and this is done
but no result/ Still not possible to enter the file. Mainly it happens
with files from 2008 and
