[Bug 355155] Re: Clocksource tsc unstable leads to lockups in Ubuntu Jaunty

2009-09-02 Thread Prashant Vaibhav
Would anyone of you happen to know how to restrict the lowest C-state of the processor? I ran into a similar problem on freebsd, where the lapic loses ticks on c-states lower than C1, causing temporary or permanent hard-freezes. Setting the lowest c-state to C1 fixed the problem. Under freebsd you

[Bug 177492] Re: EXA is balls-achingly slow

2008-04-19 Thread Prashant Vaibhav
I think it can be safely said that any further slowdowns of video playback while compiz (or perhaps another compositive manager which uses indirect glx) is running, are because of the fact that the video frames are being transferred over aiglx as textures. Unless the kernel supports something like

[Bug 187848] Re: volume control/mixer interface unusable

2008-03-11 Thread Prashant Vaibhav
I would very much consider this a usability bug in gnome-alsamixer. AlsaMixer shows all channels exposed by Alsa directly, much of which depends on the hardware, and is rather unintelligible for casual users. I propose replacing Alsa Mixer with something simpler, perhaps creating two 'modes' of op

[Bug 54233] Re: Canon PIXMA IP2200 not in list - Driver Canon doesn't work

2006-11-15 Thread Prashant Vaibhav
Just adding info: Numerous other models like Canon PIXMA iP1000, iP1500 are also not in the list. iP4000 is in the list but the driver doesn't work with iP1000. The Canon PIXMA range (especially the lower models like ip1000) are extremely popular and should be supported out-of-the-box by Ubuntu.

[Bug 71871] Re: Kyocera Mita FS-1010 driver is perhaps incorrect

2006-11-15 Thread Prashant Vaibhav
I tried in Ubuntu. Here are the findings: The PPDs for both the FS-1000+ and FS-1010 are different from the FS- 1010_en.ppd that you linked. In particular, the FS-1010.ppd file which installed by Ubuntu has FileVersion = "1.1" while the linuxprinting.com ppd file has FileVersion = "8.2", among num

[Bug 71871] Kyocera Mita FS-1010 driver is perhaps incorrect

2006-11-14 Thread Prashant Vaibhav
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cupsys I am assuming the problem is with CUPS since it has to do with printing. The Kyocera Mita FS-1010 greyscale laser printer's driver does not actually work with the printer. The suggested driver is PostScript, however, printing via that results in a
