Public bug reported: On my up-to-date Quantal, kdbg is basically defunct: Opening any executable, e.g. "kdbg /bin/bash" just gives an error message "GDB: Reading symbols from /bin/bash...(no debugging symbols found)...done." While the message itself may seem benign, it also appears when trying to debug my own executables that do contain debug symbols (gcc -g). And in any case, kdgb never actually loads the executable, so running and debugging the executable is not possible.
According to the kdbg SourceForge page, this is a known incompatibility between kdbg 2.5.1 and gdb 7.5, and has been fixed upstream in kdbg 2.5.2. However, the Ubuntu package is still kdbg 2.5.1-1. ** Affects: kdbg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072300 Title: kdbg incompatible with current gdb (7.5) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdbg/+bug/1072300/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
