I just did a fresh installation of karmic, upgraded all my packages, and

When the bookmarksftp extension is enabled and a bookmark is added to
the 'Bookmarks Toolbar Folder', that bookmark does not appear in the
toolbar until Firefox is restarted. When the extension is not enabled,
no restart is required.
This is pretty trivial, but in my pursuit of desktop perfection, I'm a
bit annoyed by the eclipse icon (icon.xpm file) that comes bundled in
the precompiled version of Eclipse from Eclipse.org. Namely, it has a
purple background around the Eclipse sphere instead of transparency. I

I confirmed that the exact experience as described above only happens
when the fglrx driver is enabled. When fglrx is removed, I now get the
error "Desktop effects could not be enabled," still a problem that it
does not give more information.

Actually, an important clarification: I did install the ATI restricted driver
after the fresh install, so that installation could have possibly disabled the
