I don't have gdb with the back-step patches installed, or this would be
infinitely easier.
Will produce complete text in a moment.

gnome-power-manager crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()
https://bugs.launchpad.net
Sorry boys and girls, it seems I had a bug in my installation
environment (one of my attempts to build from trunk left remnants in
/usr/local that I just found and cleaned out.)
Testing patch again to see whether this does, indeed, not fix it.

Well, VLC is now in multiverse.
Does this resolve this particular problem, since there's no longer any
questions about building against multiverse from universe?

I repro in Ibex Alpha 6 and previously on 64bit Heron. System was rock
solid when it ran 32 bit Heron. Hard locks several times a day,
typically during higher activity/interactivity per above accounts &
making it difficult to seriously use the machine.

I'm running current Hardy and still have this bug crop up - I'll test it

The problem is not one particular package--the program freezes when I type
the letter "o" in the search criteria. If I begin to type "compiz"-- as
soon as I type "co" Synaptic freezes; if I want to type "fonts" as soon as I
type "fo" it freezes. Every time I have to do a forced quit.

Hm, that bug's author seems strangely familiar... :)
Can we get this into mainline for all affected kernels (Intrepid+, I
suppose...)?

Wow, I'm far too tired to be reading bugs right now - I originally filed
that bug on k.o against 2.6.27-series, so Intrepid should be included
too.

Sorry, I'm slightly sleepy, just Jaunty (Karmic's vanilla series already
has the patch, conveniently).

Public bug reported:
I created directories t1/t2/testDir under my home dir, in order to
ensure solid permissions while testing. I populated testDir with four
ASCII text files: irrelevant, .this, .that, and .other. Ubuntu
