I can confirm the behaviour as described by Dror Cohen - this is my
result when adding a printer (the ENVY Photo 7100 series in that case)

I can boot the livecd environment and run Ubuntu from there, but after
the install when the full install tries to login is where the problem
starts. I have tried both with a normal password login and having it
automatically log me in. Password login was only tried using the 64 bit
version, on that

This problem affects us as well, we are using Ubuntu 8.04.1 64 bit, with
LTSP 5, and can no longer perform administrative tasks via the GUI. I
can use the command line, but this change makes life very inconvenient,
especially since our servers are headless...
