Public bug reported:

Since recent software update, when trying to connect  an existing VPN or 
configure a VPN from the network manager icon , both options are available ( 
not greyed out ) but clicking either produces no response. I can connect to a 
VPN from a terminal OK.
This occurred on both my laptop and desktop at the same time , both running 
Ubuntu 14.04
