I was implementing the work around given at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/833841.
The fix was to remove nvidia-current, run updates and install nvidia-
current again.
Instead of doing it from the command line, I did it in synaptic package
manager. I

I was using synaptic package manager to install a few dozen gnome theme
and icon packages. Following the installation of the other packages, I
tried to install gnome-themes-standard by itself. Still didn't install.

Hi, I'm randymanme. I'm a newbie -- earlier today, I had to go to the
glossary to find out what a terminal is. Choppy videos and/or videos
running in slow motion are a pain for me. Can I download Linux Mint
Main Edition without it adversely effecting my computer? I have Ubuntu
8.04. If I don't
I followed Tom Muse's advice and removed MoviePlayer. I tried to remove
MoviePlayer(Gstreamer) also, but my computer wouldn't let me (so to
speak) because too many other applications are tied to it. Then I put
MoviePlayer back on [and also MoviePlayerTotem (xine backend) which
wasn't on before].
