Yesterday, I tried the latest version of Ubuntu 8.10 (beta). To start the installation I have chosen the safe graphics option ( with f4). When the installation was finished with also software updates, Ubuntu starts without problem in normal mode! I checked the grub file (menu.lst) and I saw
