well, to avoid reconfiguring uninstalled packages, I use aptitude and tomboy/knotes just ask sudo aptitude purge mysql-common and it will display a list of packages needs to be removed, copy and paste them to notes. then accept the solution. After complete removal and reinstalling mysql copy the

This problem is resolved only after the following lines aptitude purge mysql-server mysql-server-5.5 mysql-client mysql-client-5.5 mysql-common removing mysql-common removed dozens of other packages, which I copied and now reinstalling. after that I removed the mysql etc folder sudo rm /etc/mys
