I would reckon that's SDL related as well. OpenTTD does interface with
SDL, and SDL is the thing that handles all the windowy and resolution
stuff.
The only thing that might be problematic is that sometimes SDL does not
return supported resolutions, and in that case OpenTTD will show some

OpenTTD has little to no control over what the window does when it's
resized. This is all left to SDL. The only thing OpenTTD has to worry
about is painting the game's graphics within the window. In case of full
screen there is a window without decorations spanning the complete
screen.

The sparc build failure is something very odd. It fails on line about 4

Likely after OpenTTD 1.0.0 has been added to Debian's repository, which

I can't be 100% sure what the reporter actually wanted to report as a bug.
There seem to be two parts to it:
1) his OpenTTD does not run out-of-the-box (because it requires third party

2) the config script from the .deb returns an error for some unknown reason

This is more or less a duplicate of bug#473097. That bug is about moving
OpenTTD out of multiverse which requires packaging the free data packs.
For OpenSFX to work, i.e. be useful, OpenTTD 1.0.0 (including betas/RCs)
is needed. So in effect fixing that bug fixes this bug.
The fact is that bug#473
I think this bug and 429879, 489486 and 496741 are related.
They are all about the dialog about having to install third party data.
The latter two (48.. and 49..) are, I believe, related to the way this
message is represented to the user, the user panicing and "pressing" the
wrong button. This bug
